Now doing outcalls to Johnson City, TX
We work together. I will do my best to be a part of your ongoing healthcare team. If I do not know about your condition, I will research and get as much information as I can between visits. I will also offer useful ideas and tips for you to try at home to speed recovery and maintain function. But you have to do your part too which begins with regular visits. Progress happens over time and I am here to support you in that process.
Communication is key. We begin with checking in to find out what you want and how you are feeling. Your goals are important to me and I will do my best to meet them. Sometimes we need to prioritize them though. As we work I can explain what I am doing and why. Many clients love to hear about their anatomy and how their body works. I only feel what I feel so you need to give me feedback so I know what you feel.
Harmonic technique is a gentle rocking and novel movement experience. It is my preferred technique because of its profound effect on the physical and psychological aspects of stress and trauma. I believe this technique works directly with the nervous system from the inside out, unlike all other massage techniques that work from the outside in. You will feel the benefits for a few days and may even change your muscle holding patterns after a single visit. Harmonic technique is perfect for any age and condition. One client said after a session, "Dude, that was intense relaxation!"
Deep tissue is a concept that is debated even in the massage profession. For some it means heavy pressure while for others it means stretching the connective tissue layer below the skin. Each have their benefits but for different reasons. I will combine both depending on location and condition. Typically my focus is on stretching the connective tissue. This is also called myofascial release. Trigger points are also addressed in deep tissue work.
Swedish massage is what you get most often in a spa or in student clinics. It is the basic massage and sometimes called "regular" massage. It contains all the basic moves, uses a light to moderate pressure, and is generally pleasurable. While there are many health benefits, I find the effects are short lived. Swedish massage also does not focus on any specific issue but treats all areas equally.
Two other techniques I use often but briefly include: PNF, or proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, which many only think of as stretching but is also a muscle activation technique. Positional Release finds the position of maximum comfort using the minimal effort to allow tension to melt away.
